Independent Kenneth Pritchard Hughes Wins Talybolion Ward By-Election on Anglesey Council

Plaid Cymru has lost a council seat vacated by the Ynys Môn MP Llinos Medi.
Independent Kenneth Pritchard Hughes has been voted in as the new Anglesey Council representative for the Talybolion ward following a by-election to fill the seat vacated by the council’s former leader.
Ms Medi became Ynys Môn’s new MP in July 2024.
Following this, she stepped down from her role on Anglesey Council.
On Thursday, October 24 Cllr Pritchard – who has served on the local authority before – won the vote with 678 votes.
Plaid Cymru candidate Dafydd Arthur Williams came second with 518 votes.
Conservative David Michael Evans was third with 72 votes and Tomos Iwan Barlow, of the Welsh Green Party, came fourth with 46 votes.
Cllr Aled Morris Jones the leader of the Independents Group, said: “He ran a campaign focused on the community and I am looking forward to working again with Cllr Ken Hughes.”
The Talybolion ward represents the north west of Anglesey, including the villages of Llannerchymedd, Rhosgoch, Llanddeusant and Llanfaethlu.
