Young man dies after falling from ridge in Snowdonia

North Wales news and information

A young man has died after falling from a ridge in Snowdonia, mountain rescuers have said. ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

He was part of a group of three young men who were climbing the Y Gribin ridge in the Glyderau mountain range on Saturday. ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

While they were ascending, a handhold broke away, causing him to fall a considerable distance. ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

Members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation attended along with the coastguard rescue helicopter but the man was sadly found not to have survived. ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

The team said: “The recovery continued through to Sunday lunchtime with the help of the coastguard rescue helicopter. ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

“The thoughts of all team members are with the casualties family and friends.”
