Jamie Nathan Davies, of Trafalgar Road, Wirral, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates Court on 15 March 2023, where he received an 18-week suspended sentence, a 35-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, £85 in costs, and a £154 Victim Surcharge. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, 29 July 2022, aboard a Llandudno to Llandudno Junction service. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

A concerned passenger informed the train guard of a commotion elsewhere on the train. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

Upon approaching Davies, the guard was met with verbal aggression. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

Davies was asked to leave Llandudno Junction station upon arrival, but he once again became verbally aggressive towards staff. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the scene, and their investigation revealed that Davies had assaulted a woman during the commotion. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

CCTV footage on board the train was crucial in establishing the details of the incident. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

Police Constable Hayley Harder said: “Violence again women, or anyone for that matter, will not be tolerated and we will always take action. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

“On this occasion, thanks to CCTV we were able to establish that Davies assaulted a woman which resulted in her being injured. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

“I would also like to thank the Transport for Wales staff during this incident who acted swiftly and decisively for the welfare of the woman involved.” ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

Leyton Powell, Transport for Wales’ Safety, Sustainability and Risk Director added: ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

“The majority of our customers appreciate our staff and interactions are positive. We don’t like taking these actions. However, when it comes to the safety, security and welfare of our customers and colleagues, we adopt a strict, zero tolerance to assaults and anti-social behaviour. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌

“With CCTV recording onboard our trains, people who commit offences of this kind on our trains can expect to be prosecuted, and we always work with the British Transport Police to ensure offenders are brought to justice.” ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌
