The family of a 71-year-old woman who died following a crash in Abergele have paid tribute to her.

Mary Wynne Williams, from Betws y Coed, Conwy, sadly passed away at the scene following the collision that happened on St Georges Road at around 9pm on Friday, December 23rd.

Her family have issued the following tribute to her:

“Mary was a very young 71 years of age. She was a loving wife to Richard, mum to Tom, Jane and Henry and nain Mary to Olwen and Hedd.

“She will leave a huge hole in the lives of her family and many friends.

“Mary was an incredibly fun, caring, and energetic presence. She loved to dance at parties, play practical jokes, and travel. There was always a project or an adventure on the horizon.

“Her family and friends are in complete shock and respectfully request that their privacy be kept during this extremely sad time.”

Sergeant Stephen Richards of the Roads Policing Unit is now appealing for anybody who witnessed the incident to contact officers as soon as possible.

He said: “I offer my deepest condolences to Mary’s family and friends at this difficult time. She was clearly a much-loved lady.

“An investigation is now underway to establish the cause of the collision and her family are being supported by specialist officers.

“The incident is understood to have happened at around 9pm and involved a grey 2018 plate Seat Leon.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision who is yet to come forward, or anyone who was travelling along St George Road, or between Abergele and St George itself shortly before and after the time of the incident, and who may have dashcam footage, to get in touch with us.

“If you have any information, please contact us via the website, or by calling 101, quoting reference 22000946333.”
