The Isle of Anglesey County Council has issued Improvement Notices under Covid-19 Regulations after three licensed premises breached safety rules.

The Improvement Notices came after checks were carried out by Public Protection Officers and North Wales Police.

The premises that have been issued Improvement Notices are:

  • Bulkeley Arms, Menai Bridge
  • Bull Hotel, Valley
  • The Chester Inn, Holyhead

They will now all be monitored to ensure appropriate measures are put in place. Failure to do so will result in the County Council issuing a Premises Closure Notice to those licensed premises.

Chief Public Protection Officer, Les Pursglove, said: “The majority of hospitality premises in Anglesey are working extremely hard to keep customers safe and comply with the Covid-19 regulations.”

“Unfortunately, the premises listed above have shown a disregard of the prior warning given to them which has resulted in an Improvement Notice being served.

He added, “We fully appreciate that these are uncertain times for businesses and our officers are on-hand to offer advice and guidance if required.”

The Council’s Public Protection team are now working with the Licensees to support them in making improvements to keep everyone safe.

Premises failing to put Covid-19 safety measures in place when they re-open following the upcoming fire-break could face further action including being issued with a Closure Notice.

North Wales Police Chief Inspector, Owain Llewellyn, explained: “We will continue to carry out joint visits with Isle of Anglesey County Council Officers to ensure that all licenced premises strictly follow the Coronavirus rules and regulations.”

He added, “It is important to remember that businesses play a vital role in helping to stop the spread of Coronavirus and we will do everything in our power to keep our communities safe.”
