Retired engineer from Gwynedd found guilty of killing wife of 53 years after stabbing her on Christmas Day
A 76-year-old retired engineer has been convicted of manslaughter at Caernarfon Crown Court, after he stabbed his wife of 53 years in the neck on Christmas Day last year.
Thomas Bryan and his wife, Vivienne Ellen Bryan, were at their home in Fairbourne, Gwynedd, when he used a kitchen knife to cause the fatal injury.
North Wales Police were contacted around 8pm resulting in officers and the ambulance service arriving at the property.
Despite the efforts of the paramedics who attended, Vivienne Bryan died at the scene.
Karen Dixon of the CPS said: “It’s always dreadful when violence results in the loss of life, but for it to happen on a day associated with peace and celebration seems tragic.
“The family have had to relive the awful event of that day during the trial process and have shown great strength throughout. They have our thanks for their support and cooperation, and will remain in our thoughts.”
Thomas Bryan is due to be sentenced on 10 July 2020.
