Police have warned swimmers who are trespassing at a Gwynedd quarry that they are putting their lives at risk.

Officers have received reports of adults and children going for a dip in the lake at Long Clegir in Llanberis.

The area is council owned and members of the public are advised they should not be accessing the site, as it is fenced off and signposted as being closed.

Police said: “The area is known for landslides and rockfalls, and any persons within the area are endangering their lives.

“Please ensure that your actions do not put any extra pressure on the emergency services at this difficult time.

“Local officers will be patrolling the area, and persons found within the area may be prosecuted.”
