Police have spoken to a man after he was filmed removing a sign designed to discourage visitors during the coronavirus outbreak from outside a marina.

The sign which read “Go home, save lives” was recently placed on a wall near the entrance to the marina in Y Felinheli, Gwynedd.

A video has been posted on social media today showing a man throwing the sign over the wall leading to a number of angry comments.

North Wales Police has confirmed the man has been spoken to and discouraged people from making offensive remarks.

In a statement on Facebook, the force said: “We are aware of an incident in Felinheli this morning where a sign urging visitors to go home was taken down.

“We have spoken to the individual who is a resident and not a visitor to the area.

“We are asking people to refrain from speculation and abusive comments on social media and let us deal with the matter.”
