A significant amount of illegal drugs and cash have been found after police raided two houses in the Bangor area.

The drugs, which are believed to be cannabis and illegal prescription medications, were found in houses off Treflan and Llys Bedwyr in the city at 7.30am yesterday (Tuesday 21st September 2021).

It follows an operation being conducted by detectives from CID within the North Wales Police Western Division.

One man, aged 33, from Bangor was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply and money laundering.

A second man, aged 29, was arrested elsewhere within the city on suspicion of the same offences.

Both men were interviewed in relation to the seizures at Caernarfon Police Station and later released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

An investigation led by Bangor CID remains ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Andy Davies, said: “This is a significant seizure, these drugs would have made a lot of criminals a lot of money at the expense of harm they would have caused to our communities, so it’s immensely satisfying to have seized them before they were supplied on the streets of North Wales and the North West of England.

“Our operation was a fast moving and dynamic situation which involved CID detectives working with uniform colleagues to ensure that the suspects were quickly arrested and evidence secured.

“North Wales Police is committed to targeting and dismantling criminals who pose the greatest threat to the public, and whose damaging influence stretches throughout Wales and beyond.

“The key to our success is working closely with the community and today’s seizure of a significant amount of drugs and arrest of the two males is a great example of this.
