Police officer assaulted after attending public order incident on bus on Anglesey

A police officer has been assaulted after attending a public order incident on a bus on Anglesey.

North Wales Police received a 999 call at 9.30am today from a bus driver requesting assistance on Dale Street, Menai Bridge due to a person acting in a disorderly manner .

Officers attended and during the man’s arrest an officer activated their emergency assistance button after being attacked and suffering a head injury.

The man was arrested for a public order offence and assaulting an emergency worker.

Officers were also called to assist with a separate medical emergency whilst dealing with the incident.

Area Support Sergeant Ian Roberts said: “Following the incident this morning, a person is in police custody and an officer has received visible facial injuries, fortunately not serious and the officer has remained on duty.

“Due to the emergency assistance request, the community will have seen a large police presence in Menai Bridge at this time.

“I would like to thank the community for their patience whilst we and colleagues from Welsh Ambulance Service attended the incident.”
