Emergency services are urging people to consider the consequences of their actions after a series of arson incidents on Anglesey.

Police and fire crews were called to four fires which are suspected to have been started deliberately on the island over the weekend.

They included rubbish being set alight on a football pitch in Llangoed, Beaumaris and scrub being burned on Llanfawr Road, Holyhead country park.

Builders waste was also torched in Penmon, Beaumaris, while gorse was set aflame near to the Skinner Monument at Bwlch Alltran, Holyhead.

Police constable Andrew Ruffley, from the arson reduction team, said: “Deliberately setting fires is completely unacceptable.

“This puts extra pressure on emergency services resources which are already stretched.

“We need residents to help reduce demand on firefighters and other emergency services.

“Setting fires is a criminal offence and we are actively working in partnership with the fire service combat deliberate incidents.”

If you have any information that can help police to identify those involved you can call 101 or get in touch anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
