Police appeal as pedestrian remains in critical condition after fail-to-stop collision near Llandudno
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information following a fail-to-stop collision which has left a pedestrian in a critical condition.
The collision happened at approximately 11.30pm on Saturday on Crogfryn Lane in Llanrhos, near Llandudno, and involved a black VW Polo and a male pedestrian.
The VW Polo left the scene before officers arrived. A short time later a black Polo was involved in a single-vehicle collision outside Llandudno Magistrates Court on Conway Road where the driver left the scene.
The 48-year-old pedestrian was initially taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd but has since been transferred to hospital in Stoke where he remains in a critical condition.
Following the collision, a 33-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop following a collision and drink driving.
Three other individuals – a 38-year-old man, 54-year-old man and 64-year-old woman – were all arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
All four individuals have since been released under the investigation whilst enquiries continue.
Sergeant Emlyn Hughes from North Wales Police’s Roads Policing Unit has appealed for witnesses.
He said: “A man is currently in hospital with life threatening injuries as a result of this collision and our thoughts are with him as he receives the urgent treatment he needs.
“The investigation is well underway and I am urging anybody who may have been in the vicinity of Crogfryn Lane on Saturday night and who may have dash cam or CCTV footage to contact us as soon as possible.
“I’m also urging anybody who may have witnessed the second collision outside the magistrates court to contact us.”
Anybody with information that could assist with the ongoing investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit via the force’s website or by calling 101 and quoting reference number 23000083668.
