Police have appealed for people to report any suspicious activity after being alerted to deliberate fires in Conwy county.

Officers have received reports regarding fires which have been started on purpose on a public footpath off Conwy Old Road, Dwygyfylchi.

They have raised concerns that it could lead to a nearby area of gorse catching fire.

Police said: “We are aware that groups have been congregating in this area during the evenings and therefore we will be monitoring this area regularly to prevent further incidents happening.

“Please be aware there is a lot of dry gorse within this area due to the warm weather we have had, which could cause fire easily.

“We are urging that if you are walking along this path and notice anything suspicious to contact police immediately.”
