North Wales Police set to probe ‘abusive and racist’ Facebook comments from West Midlands woman asked to leave Barmouth beach
North Wales Police has confirmed it is looking into “abusive and racist” Facebook comments made by a West Midlands woman who was asked to leave a beach in North Wales.
Footage of the woman and her family being escorted from a beach in Barmouth was widely shared on social media last week after she informed officers that Boris Johnson had told her it was okay.
She appeared unaware that coronavirus travel restrictions remain very much in place in Wales, despite the rules in England being relaxed.
A sweary rant reportedly made by the woman on Facebook was later discovered where she referred to the officers as a “bunch of b*******”
She also claimed that she believed Wales was located in England.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Nigel Harrison has now said the force is “looking forward” to welcoming her back to the country as it looks into the remarks.
He said: “The officers acted exactly as expected in a calm and professional manner, protecting the local community.
“I am aware comments that would have appeared to have been posted by one of the offenders after the incident, had derogatory, abusive and racist tones.
“As such, they will be reviewed for criminality. We look forward to welcoming her back to Wales to further discuss this when the regulations are relaxed.”
