Mountain rescuers come to aid of injured woman and lost walker in Snowdonia as visitors return
Mountain rescuers came to the aid of an injured woman and a lost walker in Snowdonia yesterday.
It follows the reopening of the area’s mountains after the “stay local” lockdown restrictions were lifted in Wales.
The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation was first called to a female walker with a suspected broken ankle on Drosgl in the Carneddau.
Two experienced walkers had been descending the mountain when one hurt herself and despite best effort, couldn’t continue.
The team drove to Bryn Hall Quarry and a stretcher party had started to walk in when the coastguard helicopter became available.
The team said: “The casualty was soon winched aboard and her walking partner was happy to walk off unaided allowing the team to recover back to Oggie Base.
“An unfortunate end to the day for the casualty and we wish her a speedy recovery.”
The team then had another call from police at around 11.30pm about a man reported lost in the dark near the path down from Llyn Bochlwyd.
Unable to contact the man by phone, a small party set out on foot and was able to quickly find him and soon returned him to the roadside.
The Snowdonia National Park Authority has been keeping people updated on the status of its car park as visitors return.
It looks like it could be another busy day today with some car parks either full or close to capacity.
