A man from Rhyl has been jailed for a “disgusting” attack on a police officer.

Lee Michael Jones, 33, of River Street has been sentenced for two offences of assaulting an emergency worker.

He was also recalled for previous offences.

District Inspector Jason Davies said: “Police Officers are members of the community like anyone else. They are sons and daughters, partners and parents.

“Our officers put on a uniform and come to work to protect their communities, working in extremely challenging situations.

“They should not have to accept being violently attacked simply for doing their job.

“I am pleased that the disgraceful, violent behaviour of this individual in attacking our officers has landed him back behind bars in short order.

“Anyone committing violent acts against police and other emergency workers should expect to feel the full force of the law.”
