Man disqualified for ten years for driving without due care and attention after serious crash in Conwy
A man has been disqualified from driving for ten years after pleading guilty to driving without due care and attention.
It followins a serious collision which happened on the A470 in Conwy last August.
James Westby Edington, 32, of Rhos-on-Sea appeared before Mold Magistrates Court today and was fined a total of £240, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.
Shortly after 6:30pm on Sunday, August 25th the emergency services were called to a report of a collision involving a Honda Civic and an Audi A3 on the A470 near Tal-y-Cafn.
Edington, who was driving the Honda Civic, was airlifted to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries.
The male driver and female passenger of the Audi were taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd with serious injuries. A new born baby was also in the Audi but thankfully, was uninjured.
Following an investigation by the Roads Policing Unit, Edington was charged and summonsed to appear before court today where he pleaded guilty to the charges.
PC Robert Williams of the Roads Policing Unit said: “This could easily have been investigated as a fatal road traffic collision, and our thoughts remain with the victims as we wish them both a full recovery.
“This incident was completely avoidable. It is vitally important that motorists give their complete and unreserved attention whilst driving on the roads.
“We are committed to improving road safety and prioritise fatal and serious injury collisions to ensure that every effort is made to bring offenders to justice.”
