Man dies after being hit by lorry on A55 on Anglesey whilst escaping his crashed car
A man has died after being hit by a lorry whilst escaping his car which had crashed on the A55 on Anglesey last night.
Police received a report of a man in the carriageway near to the Valley off-slip at around 10.50pm.
Emergency services attended and the man, who is local to the area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A collision involving a black Vauxhall Corsa happened moments earlier where the driver has crashed into the side of the road at junction 3 westbound.
He managed to get out of his vehicle but was then struck by the HGV.
Sergeant Raymond Williams of the Roads Policing Unit who is leading the investigation is urging for any witnesses to come forward.
He said: “Sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene and I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family.
“We are urging anybody who may have been travelling in the area around the time of the collision and who may have dash cam to contact us.
“We are particularly keen on speaking to anybody who may have seen the Corsa being driven prior to the initial collision.
“Our enquiries are underway and anybody who may be able to assist with the investigation should contact us immediately.”
The road re-opened shortly before 10am this morning.
