Police have brought charges after a man was filmed tearing covers off non-essential items at a branch of Tesco in Bangor.

Footage was widely shared on social media of the incident which took place on Friday evening.

It followed criticism of a Welsh Government ban on selling non-essential items like clothes during the two week firebreak lockdown.

Officers confirmed last night that Gwilym Owen, 28, from Anglesey had been charged with criminal damage, several public order offences and contravention of the coronavirus regulations.

He will appear at Caernarfon Magistrates court on 24th November.
