Anglesey Council’s free Christmas parking scheme will return this year, authority bosses have confirmed.

The move means that all county council owned car parks will offer free parking after 10am from December 11 until December 29.

The aim of the programme is to make it to draw more visitors into town centres and to offer local businesses a much needed boost in the run up to Christmas.

Such a boost is expected to be especially pertinent this year due to the economic blow of the Covid-19 pandemic, with Anglesey Council urging residents to stay local.

Cllr Carwyn Jones, the portfolio holder for economic development, said, “We really want to get behind local business this year more than ever.

“It has been an extremely tough year for small business owners – it would be great to see the Anglesey community come together to support them in the run-up to Christmas!”
